A new study has claimed that women who have a personal history of breast cancer should undergo an annual MRI screening in addition to a mammogram. The study was presented at the annual meeting of Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) which was held on Monday.
Dr. DeMartini and his team conducted the study on 1,026 women out of which 327 had a family history of breast cancer and 646 had suffered the disease themselves. They found out that MRI testing was successful in identifying 25 of the 27 known cancer groups with a very high sensitivity of 92.6 percent.
