“NIKE Inc” introduces Air Max LeBron Vll
The Air Max LeBron VII, a latest introduction in Nike's collection (available in the LeBron James' signature line), was announced at a global media summit in Akron (Ohio), featuring James and footwear designer, Jason Petrie. The shoes are basket-ball specific and designed to provide maximum comfort, grip, movement and stability to the players.
The shoes feature an innovative basketball-specific Max Air 360 unit, designed and engineered to enable greater movement in all the directions. The Air-sole unit can contain about 80% more air than others. The Max Air 360 unit is strategically and scientifically contoured with a thinner forefoot and deeper heel to provide maximum cushioning where needed the most. The inner sleeve is seamless to enable a comfortable, irritation-free ride and a lock-down support. Nike's Flywire technology, first introduced in the highly successful Nike Hyperdunk shoe, is incorporated into the design of these shoes to provide support without adding unnecessary weight. A Flywire is incorportaed in the upper using higher tensile-strength cables. These cables enable minimal use of other materials. The shoes are constructed with an upper made of full-grain leather and patent leather is used throughout. This gives it an aesthetic and luxurious feel. Its crisscross lineage provides basketball specific stability, and takes the form of a a diamond pattern that LeBron has integrated into his signature footwear and apparel lines.
The Air Max LeBron VII, pays homage to basketball and reflects the personality of LeBron. On the outsole, the five flex grooves represent the five players on the court and the 23 strips represent LeBron's number. The outsole features a 3D decoder key which, when the shoe is rotated, displays LeBron's credos – Community, Family, Fearless, Loyalty, Tradition, – and many other key call outs from the player's life.
The seven Flywire strands on the tongue of the shoe celebrates the Air Max LeBron VII as the seventh shoe in the signature series. This same call-out is repeated with the V-shaped metal eyelets on the upper surface of the shoes and Roman numeral II is also embossed directly underneath the shoes.
The Air Max LeBron VII will be available worldwide from October 24, 2009.
