“The courts verdict” 56 years od imprisonment to Alexander, a fashion designer
Fashion designer, Anand Jon Alexander, born in India, graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York and launched a fashion line of his own, in 1999,
was sentenced on 1 September, 2009 to 59 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting aspiring models. Alexander was convicted in November of 14 counts including forcible rape.
Alexander, 35, had showed no reaction when Superior Court Judge, David Wesley, said that Alexander should be imprisoned as long as possible for preying upon young girls and women. "Mr. Alexander has showed no remorse for his actions," the judge said.
The prosecutors said that Alexander also faces similar charges in New York and Texas. During the trial, prosecutors relied on the testimony from a bevy of women, 13 in number, who charged Alexander of the accusations. "I was 14. You took my adolescence, my trust, my dream and completely manipulated them for your sexual desires," said one of the women. However, the defense attorneys came up with the argument that many of women were lying to seek revenge against Alexander when they didn't get modeling jobs.
Beverly Hills police began investigating the case against Alexander in March 2007, when a woman reported she had been sexually assaulted in his apartment, at the Beverly Hills.
