Shirt Dress
Silhouette
Shirt-dresses are stylized to hug the body closely, all the way down to the hem, and to demarcate the curves by highlighting the waist-line. Shirt-dresses are basically patterned and styled on the lines in which men's shirts are tailored.
They often have a looser fit with a waist definition given by a belt. They usually featured buttoned closures all the way down the front. Ruffles may also be incorporated to run parallel or in some other pattern down the buttoned closure, to make the dress appear more dressier.
Like a formal shirt, they may also feature collars and classic cuffs. They may feature both small or large sleeves. However, short sleeves are more popular.Pockets may find a prominent place in most of the designs. Most of them feature belts to emphasize the waistline.
They are longer than average shirts. The length of a shirt-dress can vary, some may be longer while others may have some hovering around the mid-thigh. A shirt-dress should never be longer than knee-length.
Some may be done in safari style to exhibit an adventurous safari look. Nautical patterns, buttons and colors are a hot trend this season.
