Banarasi Brocade
Indian brocades have a rich, long, continuous and perennial history. They are an essential part of our culture and heritage. The popularity of Brocades can be traced back from the Rig Vedic period to the present time.
Brocades are as old and rich as the culture of our country is. Brocades have been a witness and a subject to Moughal and European invasions. They have withstood all foreign influences and incorporated, assimilated and absorbed many foreign styles and designs without loosing it's originality and charm. The indigenous qualities remained intact and they evolved to embrace all novel and foreign influences.
With the changing political control from the indigenous to the foreign forces, they adapted and underwent transformations but retained their distinct identity till date. The roots are indigenous, though some of the motifs and patterns were adapted and incorporated from the foreign colonial powers.
