The Nicolita for 2014 collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim on July 20 2013 in Miami showcased an interesting and eye catching trend – the return of the 1940s style polka dot headbands with bows.

This vintage style was really big in the 1940s and was part of famous pinups in that era. Of course, the retro-glam style keeps on making re-appearances from time to time, like it did at the Nicolita show.
The lacy pink and black polka dotted headbands were wrapped around the head and tied into pretty bows. They definitely spelt “vintage-chic”, and we quite like this trend.

Hairstyles for Sporting this Trend
If you want to flaunt this particular trend, you do not have to restrict yourself to just retro high buns (though we agree those are some sexy and sensational buns which were sported on the ramp). You can take your pick from a wide array of hairstyle – and they do not always have to be based on retro or vintage styles.
1940s style polka dot headbands with bows will also look good with beach wave hairstyles, simple top buns, bouffant hairstyles – both updos and open ones, voluminous curls, side fishtail plait, high ponytail, Grecian updos and even with your hair left open naturally. These headbands will also look good teamed with pompadour rolls as seen on singer Gwen Stefani.

Where to Sport this Trend
You do not have to wait for only retro or polka dot theme parties to show off this style as it can add instant glamour to anything and any day. You can wear the polka dotted headband to the beach or the pool side, for a picnic or a barbecue party or simply when you want to turn heads.
