As soon as we cross over from the school life into college, a whole new world of possibilities opens up. It feels as if you are free to be whoever you like, free to let fashion into your everyday life. And more often than not, the thing you want to be is cool. And it really sums up to never trying hard and always dressed up as if it comes naturally to you.
Rock the Fashion
Since you are off to college, comfort through the day is as important as the aesthetic value of the look. So start off with your washed denim, but not the regular ones – instead the torn, ripped and distressed ones.
Know that torn denim add a grunge charm like nothing else. It instantly boosts up the X-factor. The amount of ripped areas would depend on your personal boldness and sensibilities. We chose an excess version with horizontal rips all through the thighs at front.
Now with our torn denim in place, opt for a basic tank top in white or even a white racer back for the upper body. Since the focus is on denim, the other separate should never be over the top. If you choose a printed tank, make sure the print is not overwhelming and for most purposes is monochromatic.
Rock the Beauty
For a day in college, the last thing you should want is overly done make-up. Take the cue and keep it simple in this department.
Wear a natural gloss on the lips. Define eyes with Kohl and eye liner on the upper lash line. A slightly smoky look can be acceptable too, but remember it is the day time.
The thing you can play with is the hair. Part your hair on one side and pull the majority of your tresses over one shoulder. Pick a section of your hair from this and divide it further into three sections and braid. Secure with a pin. This hairstyle is a cross between messy braid and naturally kept hair.
Rock the Style
For this look we have chosen very basic separates. It definitely calls for bolder accessories to complete the look.
Sport a flower brooch on your tank. It contrasts the roughness of the torn denims and add a touch of feminine to the otherwise grunge look.
A chain necklace with keys anyone? The great thing about college is you can go out of line and spark a trend – seize the opportunity!
Wear long metal and feather earring that hit you at the shoulder. Don’t be afraid of this one, as they will not be starkly visible in the look, as you have the messy hair too, which don’t let the earring be jarring.
To save the wrists being too empty, either sport a sleek metal bracelet or a watch can look great too.
Last, all you need is a bag to carry all your stuff. We advocate a brown bag which can be easily switched between being a sling bag or a hand held. The framed bag that we have used is all the rage at the moment.
P.s. Don’t forget your sunglasses, be it a classic pair of aviators or trendier frames – do wear one. We have used an oversized pair of sunglasses as they are a classic and revered as a celeb’s choice.
Take time to find a pair that suits your face as this could be your best investment towards looking fashionable.
Glamcheck’s Rocking Tip
For the more adventurous, sport a DIY white tank top.
- At the back of your jersey tank, make 4 horizontal slits with ½” gap with a scissor near the neck. Don’t go all the way to the seams.
- The result is you have thin strands. Cut these strands from the centre and tie the loose ends in knots.
- The result should be a very cool looking neckline at the back. Use your imagination to create more unique tanks with this method and you will be surprised by the results.
