A smart jacket or an elegant wrap can do a lot to an outfit. Victor de Souza’s take to the classic shrug showcased at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for Fall-Winter 2012 was a perfect example fitting the bill and stylishly establishing itself as our style pick of the day.
The Inspiration of the Runway:
Apart from the well tailored and fitted class that the shrug reflected of, another catchy element of the deal were deep serious green tassels forming a trim to an extremely smart black shrug and these pretty much formed the highlight of the shrug and added a hint of fun to it. The detailed look shows the impeccable tailoring the jacket oozes of. The tassels were a manifestation of the inspiration Victor de Souza saw in the country of Spain establishing how myriad cultures always reflect in fashion. The show was a refreshing change to the design aesthetics he is associated with otherwise.
The Runway Styling:
Although sticking to the basic, the final look highlighted by the shrug at Fall Winter 2012 was nothing close to one. It was uber stylish, simple and yet very fashion & elegance stated. Styled over a white bodice and perfectly fitting straight high waisted the serious look perfected a high end fashion dream.
Other Styling Options:
Victor de Souza showed a great example of a skirt styled look, but a shrug has a lot more role to play when it comes to the styling options it is capable of.
- Take Black seriously and go for an all black look, wear anything black, be it a smart A-line maxi dress or pants and layer the shrug over it. Add drama with smoky eyes that will just do the trick for you.
- The solid coloured character of the shrug enables it form a perfect match for prints. Think prints in the same colour combination as the shrug or simply think bright colour and style it piece with one like yellow.
- A short dress with ample amount of accessories and talking specifically, layered neckpieces peeping from the jacket makes for a great party outfit.
- Most of the times the classic patent pointed pumps will always find their way with the shrug but have fun and style with other shoe options too.
It is a wonder how additions here and there make so much difference to a piece of garment. Without the elegant looking tassels the shrug would neither talk of Spain and pretty much match the frequency of any other shrug.
