The biggest dream most of us have is to have a fairy tale wedding. The wedding dress, makeup and hairstyle, jewellery and accessories form a big part of this dream.
The Spanish bridal store Pronovias, well known in the world for dressing up brides in as many as 75 countries recently had their Bridal Collection Spring 2013 in Barcelona at the National Art Museum of Catalonia showcasing the bridal trends. With 1700 strong attendees, this was by far the largest fashion show too. And the audience was left wanting for more with the exemplary bridal trends showcased by the design house.
Inspiration
The Pronovias catwalk Bridal collection Spring 2013 was inspired by the theme of “Le Jardin des Rêves” which translates into “The Garden of Dreams.” The dresses therefore were flower inspired.
Pronovias chief designer Manuel Mota who was instrumental in choosing this theme, kept in mind that every girl would like to have a beautiful, dream like wedding, filled with all things pretty, feminine and flowery and the collection surely was a reflection of this inspiration. Interestingly, this dreamy, feminine theme finds a strong flavor for all Bridal trends for Spring 2013, as in the previous seasons as well.
Fabrics
The fabrics were soft, flowy and included the evergreen organza, laces, silks and satins. While the fabrics always tend to be repeated in the bridal collection, what was ingenious and exemplary was how intricate designs, silhouettes and embellishments brought newness to the entire Pronovias Bridal collection Spring 2013
Design elements and embellishments
Embellishments in the form of flowers, laces, ruffles and pleats – big and small, tonal sequin embroidery were incorporated by the design house to ensure that there was something for every bride – contemporary, classic or period.
Flowers in the form of corsages, ruffles, in the form of sequin embroideries were omnipresent, in keeping with the theme – The garden of dreams.
The wedding gowns had delicate fabric flowers sewn on the skirt area and on the sheer net overlay at the bodice area – delicate and very pretty lending the right dose of enigma to the bride. The small flowers at the bodice area sometimes cascaded into bigger flowers at the bottom of the bodice, making it look like a pretty garden – one that every girl wishes to have!
Tonal sequin embroidery in floral, delicate vine and criss-cross patterns also formed a part of the collection.
The sequin embroidery done on delicate and sheer fabrics on the bodice area left an indelible impression on the audience, who will remember it as something unique and definitely not so easy to forget.
The other big bridal trend for spring 2013 was that of using cutwork lace. Cutwork lace has always been considered very feminine and pretty and is a must to have in every woman’s wardrobe.
What a beauty the wedding dress is, when you have beautiful cutwork lace interspersed with chiffons and organza used sometimes at the neck or hem or back of the bodice and finished into romantic, fluid gowns. The pattern on the laces too was inspired by the floral theme and the models strutted down the ramp in gowns having a mix of delicate lace and flowers.
Complete lace bodices looked great on the models and imparted great beauty to the wedding gowns.
For the more cosmopolitan bride, one who prefers relatively less dressy look and cleaner cuts and lines, the Pronovias catwalk Bridal Collection Spring 2013 surely did not disappoint. Delicate pinstripe pleats at the bodice area, coupled with wavy ruffles, sometimes wide and sparse and sometimes small and busy on the skirt area ensured that the look was modern and clean, yet an absolute stunner!
Silhouettes and Necklines
Traditionally, wedding gowns tend to be voluminous, with long trains and yardages of fabric.
While some designs of the Pronovias catwalk Bridal Collection Spring 2013 did have these, the collection also boasted of short bridal dresses – one bridal trend which everybody in this business must surely sit and take note of.
The mid thigh length dresses were flirtatious. While some dresses were straight line kissing the curves of the body at the right places, some were bolder – like the voluminous baby doll lace dress with buttons at the back and floral ruffle medley at the hem.
The necklines were interesting too – illusion necklines, square necks, diamond necklines – all added variety and added enough oomph to the dresses.
Bridal Accessories
When everything is as pretty as it possibly can be, how could the accessories be far behind?
Delicate floral clips used on the hair up-dos, thin shiny silver hair bands, delicate net veils- plain and floral, floral sandals, thin fabric belts worn just below the bust to accentuate the tiny waist – all formed a part of the entire ensemble making it every inch a winning collection.
Pretty and delicate, the accessories carried forward the theme of the Garden of dreams.
To be a beautiful bride is every girl’s dream. For making the dream come true, Pronovias catwalk Bridal Collection Spring 2013 had all the right dresses.
