Color being the strongest usually, it definitely has a huge role to play in this season and the runways clearly state the same for the season that follows-Fall/Winter 2012.
A wide spectrum of blues were predominantly part of various collections and in multiples forms spelling vibrant and hence have been established as the color trend for Fall/Winter 2012.
The colors of the Fall have always been associated to the greys which indeed have a sophistication and a winter charm of their own but amidst the heavy hues the jewel toned blue is a real crush and a welcome change. The color blue has been trending for a while and the runways confirm that it here to stay at least for another season and how? Here’s a look:
Metallic Blues:
A touch of metallic is like a ‘Midas touch’ that always translates the most into something glitzy and in this case fit for a party. The sheen has that character to it and the blues of the family justify the same. The metallic form of blues are definitely ruling this season and were spotted in the form of short fitted dresses and glamorous draped gowns that can translates the wearer into a beautiful fashion spell.
Take a cue from the edgy short blue dress with a sheen and a tangerine clutch for contrast to achieve a glamorous winter nights look. Softer and a dreamier version of the metallic blue is satin draped elegantly.
Tailored Blues:
Simple yet high on crisp tailoring and smartness is what defines a well tailored look and blues definitely make for a great choice for a look like that.
The runway dictates the combination of black and blue confirming to the choices of the season and that too in the forms of dresses & a suit. Pinches of black look strikingly smart and chic against the blues and breaks the color in the smartest way possible.
In a sea of blue, buttons in black are a subtle touch to a knee length well fitted dress. A sharp tailored navy blue suit with black pockets as the highlights talks of elevated level of fashion taste.
Layered Blues:
Fall Winter are as synonymous with layering as the Spring Summer is to the blooms. The trend works just fine and not just in the context of looks but practicality as well. A fun baby doll dress layered over solid black leggings and smart black accessories in the forms of caps, gloves and belts is just how stylish the winter can get without compromising n color.
Overcoats are the easiest ways to layer and don’t require a second thought. Layering trend made its presence on the runway but stuck to the standard 2012 combination of black and blue.
Printed Stories:
More often than not when a color trends it doesn’t go without manifesting itself in the form of prints. Every print has a character of its own and that character defines the feel of the garment.
From floral, tribal or geometric the prints mostly in the combination of blacks and blues rocked the runways establishing another way to wear the color and the combination.
Pleated Attire:
Pleats are a huge trend and when in the form of a flowy gown in the lovely blue the result is dramatic, inspirational and mesmerizing.
A studded belt breaks the monotonous flow of the garment and adds some spark to it. Belts are a great way to do that to any garment and add more depth to the look.
Color Blocked:
Talking of color trends, then color blocking is an expected attempt. Diane Von Furstenberg color blocked blue with red and accessorized with black stating how color block has become an integral part of fashion at least for the approaching season.
The longevity of the trend will surely leave us mastered in it. Accessories are the best way to embrace any trend and the same was seen at her show.
