Jumpsuits and rompers are a tricky outfit to carry off. More often than not, women wear them wrong and end up looking either like a slob or drawing attention to unwanted areas. But it’s not the jumpsuit, it’s us! Jumpsuits can flatter any body type and give an illusion of a taller and slimmer you; it is only a matter of the right choice. Choose fluid fabric if you boast of a curvy figure whilst go for more structured cuts and fabrics if you are on the skinnier side.
Since jumpsuits and rompers have an androgynous feel to them, they are best paired up with dainty accessories if you want to look like a lady. If a tomboy look is more like you, wedges and a more structured look will complement your jumpsuits and rompers well. Below we discuss our take on the different types of jumpsuits and the styles which pair up best with them. Take a hint but don’t be too afraid to experiment as jumpsuits and rompers fluidly take the personality of the wearer and it is totally up to you how to best carry them off!
Shoes to Wear With Calf-Length Jumpsuits
Calf length jumpsuits end right below the knee and show off those pretty legs elegantly. Shoes which lay an emphasis on the calf region like gladiator heels or a pair of gorgeous peep-toes can be teamed up well with these. You can take them from day to night wear flawlessly by just accessorizing suitably.
Ankle cuff shoes also work well with this style though you should keep in mind that since these shoes make you look a tad shorter, heels are easier to pull off than flat ones and it is better to color-coordinate your ankle cuff shoes with the color of your jumpsuit so that it gives you a taller look.
Shoes to Wear With Wide-Legged Jumpsuits:
Wide legged jumpsuits offer flare at the end of the bottom and provide a balancing effect for curvy bodies. They are best worn in fluid fabrics and with sturdy accessories. A wide legged jumpsuit looks ravishing with chunky high wedges. And the best part – wedges are comfortable for your feet too.
Experiment with prints with a solid colored jumpsuit/romper or play down an animal printed one with solid colored shoes.
Shoes to Wear With Tailored Jumpsuits:
Tailored jumpsuits fit the bill perfectly if you have an hourglass figure and love flaunting your beautiful curves. And with them, you can barely go wrong with a killer pair of pump shoes. Elegant, sophisticated yet supremely sexy, pump shoes add just the right amount of edge and oomph to any outfit – and tailored jumpsuits are no exception. Another great look to flaunt with your tailored jumpsuit is that of boots. Below the knee boots or ankle booties look great with a well tailored jumpsuit. Go for high-heeled options or uggs if you are the laid-back kind.
Shoes to Wear With Party Rompers:
Party rompers are extremely in vogue and can easily be your replacement for that little black dress. In case of party rompers, it is best to use the funda of contrasts. If your romper is monochrome, go for funky animal print or sequined shoes. Or if you choose to go high on prints, then its best to hold back on patterned shoes and stick to solid color ones.
Go with high-heeled stilettos or pumps for a super-glam look as they elongate the legs and give you a slimmer appearance.
Shoes to Wear With Casual Rompers:
Casual short rompers are perfect for your day time shopping and that lunch out with the ladies. Fabrics like denim and cotton are best used for casual rompers.
These when paired up with casual cushioned flip-flops and such can give you a trendy and modern look. Also, gladiator flat shoes that let your jumpsuit steal all the attention can be easily worn on a lunch date with minimal accessories and loose flowing hair.
The most important thing with jumpsuits is to accessorize very well if you don’t wish them to look like work overalls. Jumpsuits and rompers can very well hide your trouble areas and flaunt your favorite ones – so go ahead and indulge!
