Our lives have always been subjective to our struggle with work and success. In this stressful atmosphere we forget how our body gets tired and muscles begin to shout for help. Our lifestyles, due to the change in dynamics have distorted our requirements and necessities. The earlier time map had less stress and struggle with people being content in what they had. But with the increment in pressure and muddled lives, people have become victim to problems which had never surfaced before in the health area.

This is where the massage therapy acts as a blessing to people who suffer from this haphazard routine. It had emerged as a very valuable and advantageous practice. With the right kind of experience and practice, the experts know which pressure points can be worked upon to relieve the tension and give you an end result for sheer satisfaction.

The therapy has also been medically considered one of the most effective ways to handle stress and tension. It also comes across as a vital part of the Complementary and Alternative medicine and has a tremendous scope with as much as 80 different kinds of massage therapies.

The process in simple words can be explained as a way in which muscles can relax and the tissues in the body have a better flow of oxygen and blood where the therapy is applied.

Types of Massage

Although there are numerous ways of therapies but let’s just have a look at some of the most effective and famous massage therapies.

 

Swedish massage

One of the most common types of massage was developed by a Swedish doctor named Dr. Per Henrik Ling in the 1920’s. The technique includes kneading, tapping, gliding strokes shaking motions and friction that directly reaches your nerves, muscles and glands. If you want instant energy and increased blood circulation which relaxes you, this is the ideal massage therapy.

 

Deep Tissue Massage

This deep massage is ideal for relaxing your muscles by parting the fibers they have. By putting abrasion along the granule of the muscle and deep muscles firmness, you can give your muscles and tissues a new life. It is generally recommended for people who suffer for injuries like back strain or whiplash as it helps in discharging the toxins and breaking the pattern of nervousness.

A Japanese technique which means “universal life energy” came into existence in the 1930’s in the US after being urbanized by Christian Japanese Monk, Dr. Mikao Usua in the 19th century. In this procedure hands are positioned on definite locations on or over the body to pass on the healing. It is helpful in relieving pain, illness and providing mental and spiritual growth.

 

Shiatsu

Shiatsu means “Finger Pressure” which comes in a form of an acupressure therapy. This includes pressure application to certain points alongside the body’s meridians to kindle the surge of power. For the purpose of pressure, hands, knees, elbows or feet are used. It gives relaxation and relief from pain.

 

Thai Massage

Thai massage is a cross between acupressure, yoga and shiatsu. Energy is stimulated by applying pressure to the body’s energy medians while you do yoga like poses and stretch your muscles and joints to relive tension. It is used for both stimulation and relaxation.

 

Hot Stone Therapy

Generally used in health spas, heated stones are positioned on the body and then moved around with very light pressure. This not only relaxes your muscles but also generates a heat layer around the body which keeps it calm and composed.

 

Lymph System Massage

This therapy helps in removing the toxins from the body and improving your health. This was discovered by a Danish doctor Hans Vodder. He derived a technique in which the flow of the lymph system could be improved. This technique comprises of light, regular stroke of the muscle filaments.

 

Though there are many ways in which you can make your body ease down for some time. But if you are looking for a long term relaxation of mind, body and soul, then Massage therapy is the right way to go about it.
