The French fashion brand Dior has officially sacked the famed designer John Galliano following his anti-Semitic remarks in a video released recently. This also comes after Natalie Portman publicly voiced deep contempt towards Galliano for having made those racist comments. The brand has broken all ties with the designer at once after these incidents.
Women’s Wear Daily released a report saying that the brand has officially confirmed firing the designer on Tuesday on account of his inappropriate behavior in the I love Hitler video that had been circulating widely on Monday.
The President and chief executive officer of Dior, Sidney Toledano, said in a statement that he condemns Galliano’s act and his remarks as they are defamatory to the fashion brand and not in keeping with the values the House of Dior has always believed and took pride in.
The House of Dior has started with the process of firing Galliano, which means that the entire process requires time and will proceed in steps considering all the complications involved. Galliano’s silence in the matter as of now is not going to be for long. He has already filed a defamation suit against the people who are accusing him primarily. He might even file a case against Dior for doing him wrong but then there are issues about how much of the company’s ownership rests with the designer. Nonetheless, it is definitely a shock to not only those who knew Galliano personally but also the entire fashion community.
