Checks and plaids are the least proposed theme for spring summer 2011. Most of the designers gave this theme either a complete miss or included just a few items in their range.
D and G :
- D and G Used big gingham checks as overalls, swim suits, under denim tops as ra ra skirts and as head bands and bags. The colors used were peppy – reds and pinks with whites. The gingham check collection conveyed a hippy – happy look.
Dsquared 2 :
- The Look was chic in a geeky manner, inspired by their American menswear collection and had preppy tomboyish looks. There were navy and orange plaid shorts and gray ankle length pants interspersed with multi-colored big checks, teamed with shirts and blazers to complete the look.
Rodarte :
- The sisters’ immensely wearable collection had a few pieces of plaids used innovatively as an ensemble. There was a Brown and white check blouse in gauze worn with black and white pencil pants and a navy white blue plaid high waist low calf length trouser with tonal plaid full sleeve blouse.
Isabel Marant :
- Mostly known for making clothes that are stylish alright, a bit off the track though. Not the usual pretty floral prints and preppy summer colors for this designer, one of the ensembles she has created include – a red and indigo-navy check western shirt worn over a lacy indigo-navy top and teamed with ripped oak boy shorts.
The spring of 2011 promises to be a riot of colors and prints, choose your style statement well and dress to kill!
