Miss Gibraltar, Kaiane Aldorino, was crowned the prestigious Miss World 2009 title in Johannesburg, on Saturday, December 12. She also won the swimsuit round.
She competed with 111 other contenders from various parts of the world to bring her country the Miss World title for the first time.
Miss Mexico Perla Beltrán won the first runner-up award followed by Miss South Africa Tatum Keshwar as the second runner-up and Miss France Chloé Mortaud with the third runner-up award.
Pooja Chopra from India failed to make it to the final and could make it only to the top 7 semi-finalists. She received applause for a video clip showing her efforts to educate girl child in India.
Former Miss Universe Ms.Priyanka Chopra was one of the judges in the contest.
Last time India won the title when Priyanka Chopra brought home the Miss World crown in 2000.
