Former Miss World and Indian actress Aishwarya Rai has been in the news a lot of late because of her burgeoning weight after the birth of her first baby. But the doe-eyed beauty silenced even her harshest critics with her wardrobe choices in Cannes 2012, in particular because of the beautiful sari she wore to the 2012 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS at the Hotel Du Cap in Antibes, France on May 24.
What she wore:
off-white sari by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla
The off-white sari Aishwarya wore featured embroidery in the chikankari style. The hem and pallu of her sari were embellished with antique gold and red embroidery that took you back to the days of the Raj.
The long, full-sleeve blouse was also accentuated with intricate floral embroidery and boasted rich hues of green, gold, orange, red and silver. All in all, this was one heck of a royal outfit. She accessorized with nothing more than a couple of finger rings.
Hair and Makeup:
Messy updo; dark eyes
Aishwarya’s long black hair was swept up into a slightly messy, relaxed do with wisps left loose for a dreamy effect and a thin, gold headband to highlight her hairstyle.
She chose to go minimal with her makeup, although it was still quite glam. She lined her beautiful eyes with black liner and accentuated her peepers with shimmery eye shadow. A glossy but natural-pink lip color completed her 2012 Cannes red carpet look.
