May 19: Day 4 of the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival dawned warm and balmy. French actress Leila Bekhti must have had a premonition because her laidback and fresh outfit suited the day to a T as she arrived for the Jury Un Certain Regard held at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.
What she wore:
white shirt, Printed skirt from the Carven Fall 2012 collection
Leila donned a slightly high-waisted, short velvet skirt which featured a colorful depiction of a scene from the middle ages. The colors used in this delightful skirt are bright but with an earthy essence. The cut and style of it is youthful and versatile, which is perhaps the main reason that it has been much-coveted since its debut on the ramp at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year.
This work-of-art skirt was paired with a blue silk shirt on the runway but Leila decided to go with a white, front-buttoned shirt which is sooooo much better. It’s crisp, fresh and exudes a decidedly summery feel that is oh-so-Cannes.
She finished off her picture-perfect outfit with navy blue peep-toe pumps, again deviating from the tan stacked heels that the skirt was originally accessorized with – an improvement, in our opinion.
Hair and Makeup:
Relaxed wispy updo, dark eyes, deep pink lips
Leila’s hairdo is perfect for the weather and feel of Cannes. Her brown locks were pulled back in a simple updo, the parting weaving unevenly. Her grown-out bangs and wisps of hair from the crown were left loose for a slight wind-blown effect.
Classic black eye liner meticulously applied and black mascara made her peepers look rich and deep. The glossy lip color that Leila wore was a beautiful blend of subtle pink and subtle plum, culminating in a gorgeous shade that offset her dusky skin tone.
Get the Look
Often, the best combination for a printed skirt or pants is a plain white or black top. Leila’s choice reflects her good taste and simple but effective fashion sense that is a must for manageable and doable everyday style.
