Comedienne Kathy Griffin took the safe route for her red carpet look at AARP’s 11th Annual Movies For Grownups Awards at Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on February 6. The 51-year-old wore a little black dress, its very simplicity lending loads of sophistication to the outfit.
The black sleeveless satin dress with a bow belt fell a little below the knees. It had a well-fitted bodice but had an A-line cut below the belt. Her leopard print bra strap peeked through the spaghetti straps of the dress. Although that was a slight fashion faux pas for this usually meticulous red carpet dresser, it added a touch of boldness to her look that suits her outspoken personality.
Animal print peep-toe pumps, a beaded gold necklace and gold stud earrings completed her outfit.
Kathy went with the bouffant-esque voluminous hairstyle that she usually favors. Her red hair had plenty of loose curls and her bangs were combed down the front. She finished off with a soft muted-red lipstick, some blush to define the cheekbones, eyeliner and mascara.
Get The Look
The LBD (little black dress) is a must for every woman’s wardrobe. This is one of the most versatile items of clothing ever designed. You can turn to it at the last minute when you have nothing else to wear and be assured of a successful ensemble because the LBD has not gone out of fashion since the 1920s. Just make sure that the LBD you invest in has a timeless design that will look trendy for a few years at least. The simplest cuts are usually the best. Don’t get anything too short or too long as these are fleeting trends that do not survive the test of time. Just above or below the knees like Kathy’s dress is best.
You can pair your little black dress with many different types of shoes and hairdos. The possibilities are literally infinite. Wear this outfit to dinner, a party, a work-related event, or a date and you can’t go wrong.
