Not long after suing her biggest fan-site LadyGaga.org for registering the domain name, Lady Gaga is all set to file suit against a marketing firm that is attempting to use the celebrity’s name to sell their line of makeup and jewelry.
The firm in question, Excite Worldwide, has gone ahead to the US Patent and Trademark Office and applied for trademarks such as Lady Gaga Fame, Lady Gaga, and Lady Gaga by Design for their cosmetics and jewelry line. No one knows why they are doing this since their application will be denied anyway because Gaga will not sign-off on her name.
However, their application prevents Gaga from registering for those trademarks herself. Her lawyer told Women’s Wear Daily that even if Excite’s requests are denied, they are nevertheless still blocking Gaga from moving ahead. Although the star is hardly lacking trademarks. According to the New York Post, Gaga has already registered her name for a variety of products from fashion items to online services.
