Shraddha Kapoor’s latest cover shoot for Filmfare’s November-December 2024 issue, featuring outfits from AFEW Rahul Mishra, has certainly stirred up conversations, and Glamcheck’s take on the shoot brings a mix of appreciation and constructive critique.

Hairstyle & Makeup: A Missed Chance for Creativity
While Shraddha Kapoor looked stunning, the shoot’s hairstyle and makeup felt a bit too uniform across all four looks.
The same sleek, voluminous waves were used for every outfit, which, though elegant, didn’t offer the range and experimentation expected from a high-fashion editorial. Each of the looks deserved a distinctive touch to match the personality of the outfit, but unfortunately, the consistency of the hairstyle and makeup lacked the necessary variation to elevate the looks and give them more character.
Look 1 & Look 2: Boxy Silhouettes and Unflattering Angles

In Look 1 and Look 2, the silhouettes were overly boxy and did little to emphasize Shraddha’s natural features. While the pieces from AFEW Rahul Mishra were undoubtedly creative, the styling choices—particularly the boxy cuts—didn’t flatter her figure. Instead, the outfits appeared stiff and somewhat unrefined, undermining Shraddha’s usual elegant presence.
Furthermore, the photography angles didn’t do justice to the designs. Some of the shots made her proportions seem off, detracting from the overall effect of the looks. These outfits might have worked better with more tailored shapes or a different styling approach that emphasized Shraddha’s frame.
Look 3: A Disjointed Ensemble

Look 3 was a mix of dramatic elements: black opera gloves, long boots, a draped skirt, and a corseted bustier top. While individually each piece has potential, together they didn’t quite mesh. The long boots and opera gloves, although bold choices, felt out of place with the draped skirt and corset. The combination of such contrasting styles made the look feel forced and disconnected. The poses in this look also seemed awkward, making the ensemble appear even more disjointed. A more cohesive styling approach or a clearer vision for this outfit could have helped create a stronger impact.

Look 4: Underwhelming and Predictable
Look 4 featured a white blazer with black accents, a classic combination that didn’t bring anything new to the table.

While the outfit was elegant, it came across as safe and predictable. Given the creative flair of AFEW Rahul Mishra, we expected something more innovative and bold, but this look didn’t quite hit the mark. The outfit felt rather dull in comparison to the more dynamic and adventurous choices seen in other parts of the shoot.
Look 5: A Showstopper
Look 5, however, was the highlight of the entire shoot. The purple mermaid drape dress from Rahul Mishra was a standout, capturing the perfect balance of drama, ethereal beauty, and vibrant color.

This look complemented Shraddha’s frame beautifully, making her appear both powerful and graceful. The fit was perfect, and the design was nothing short of dreamy, with its sweeping lines and bold color. This look felt fresh, energetic, and most in line with what we’d expect from a fashion-forward shoot. It was the one outfit that truly stood out as a showstopper.

Final Thoughts
While Shraddha Kapoor looked gorgeous on the Filmfare cover and the outfits from AFEW Rahul Mishra displayed creativity and craftsmanship, there were a few missed opportunities in terms of styling and execution. The lack of variation in hair and makeup, along with a few unflattering silhouettes and disjointed looks, detracted from the overall impact of the shoot. However, the purple mermaid dress in Look 5 was a refreshing and beautiful highlight that brought much-needed drama and elegance to the campaign. With a bit more experimentation in the styling and photography, this shoot could have been even more iconic.
