Designer Monisha Jaising presented her collection “Happily Ever After” on the second day of the PCJ Delhi couture Week 2013.
Delhi Couture Week 2013 Monisha Jaising
The Collection: Traditional and Indo Western Fusion
Gender: Womenswear
Clothes: There was a wide amalgamation of outfits displayed on the ramp which included saris, lehengas, kurtas, indo-western gowns, beaded gowns, mini dresses, long jackets, beaded bodices, sherwanis, and bejewelled leggings among others. It was interesting to see how her gowns took inspiration from lingerie and were exceedingly feminine. The gowns also featured interesting drapes which gave some of them a very “sari-like” appearance.
Colors: Hues like various shades of blue, lime green, ivory, black, burgundy, neon coral and purple were seen on the clothes.
Fabrics: The designer played with materials like French lace, opulent velvet, elegant silk, brocade, jaamevaar and even wool.
Embellishments: Bead work and bling were the highpoint of the collection. Chains, sequins, gold foil block prints, baroque embroidery and crystals were used quite frequently.
