If you thought feathers weren’t for spring – Think again! Designer Pia Pauro showcased a colorful and fun collection full of ostrich feather trims on day five of Wills India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013.
She titled the collection ‘Isola Pia’ which translates as Pia’s island in Italian. The exotic name is justified with the garments being ideal for a wondrous vacation away from the daily routine and onto your own fashion island – where you can be whoever you want.

For a resort wardrobe this collection offered so much to choose from – relaxed tunics, printed dresses, breezy maxis in pop colors, bandeau and beach shorts, pencil skirts and sunset dresses fabricated in silk satin, silk georgette and cotton silk.
On the accessories front, jute beach bags were embellished with Ostrich feathers in fun colors like mint green and bubblegum pink.
There were also feather and bead earrings and necklaces. The strappy footwear in tangerine shades and feather trims can be a coveted accessory for the coming season.
The prints and embroideries followed varied inspirations – coconut grooves, ancient body art, Sind and Ikat. Despite the variation the whole collection looked unified at the ramp with the underlying resort theme and clever use of colors.
The makeup was kept soft on the eyes while the lips in glossy pop colors came into focus. The hair were tamed and straight.
A luxe embellished maxi in bubblegum pink remains our favorite.
